Maximizing Your New Google AdWords Account

Outlined are 7 important steps to make sure you get the most out of your new Google AdWords account.

1. Get Organized

The great thing about Google AdWords is that it allows you to have up to 1,000 campaigns. Decide what you goals are, and how you want to structure them.

You could try organizing them as follows:

-          Geographic Location or by Region

-          Products

-          Seasons

It is important to begin your different campaigns centred on how you want to assign and manage your PPC amount.

2. Making Ad Groups

Once you have organized your campaign, you must then create ad groups within your campaigns. You could create ads for a specific product.

3. Ad Targeting

Be sure to set your ad targeting. Your campaign can target the Display Network, Search Network, both of these, or remarketing.

4. Keyword Research

It is fundamental to understand exactly how your customers search for things. Assuming you know your client and what they search for is a huge mistake. Take the time and research to identify what are the optimum keywords for your campaign.

Some factors to consider when you are deciding on keywords should be:

  • Keyword Relevancy
  • Paid Search Competition
  • Search Volume

Use the resources given to you. Google’s keyword planner can guide you in identifying possible keywords. When using the key word panning tool, ensure you include some common search phrases, as well as your landing page URL.

You will then be able to see additional search terms, as well estimated bidding costs on keywords.

5. Negative Keywords

Identifying negative keywords is very important. Google’s planner can identify negative search terms that you will add to your campaign.

Negative keywords will stop your ad from displaying on non-relevant searches, and in doing so, save you money.

6. Keyword Match Types

It is important to know there are four different match types:

  • Exact Match
  • Phrase Match
  • Broad Match
  • Broad Match Modifier

7. Creating Ad Copy

This, unfortunately, Google Planner cannot help you with. Creating and cultivating successful and attractive copy can be difficult. Try and think of ways your company is unique and different, what would compel people to want to buy from you?
